Working for Development of the Tribals and Marginalised
Where We Work
Jhabua District of Indore division is situated on southern western part of Madhya Pradesh. Indore, Ratlam, Khargon are the nearest district to this tribal populated Jhabua. Its border touches three states, which are Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat, the whole Jhabua is divided into 6 development bocks. Here we found no appropriate settlements, all the villages are gashed in distances, the settlements of huts of the same village are situated far from each other in around 2-3 km radius.
The main tribal who lives here are Bhil, Bhilala and Patliya. Jhabua district is a draught area in the record, where the average rainfall is 786 cm. Level of land water is also very low, and only one crop can be taken well due to the lack of irrigation and water resources. The farmers of this area are converting into seasonal labours in other parts of the state due to the declining proportion of return in farming.
Due to this migration, the children’s suffers lot in their education, drop out schools children’s are increasingly day by day. The people from Jhabua district are migrating not for the earnings, but just to save their life. Jhabua district is very backward and largely consist of Tribal community, in this belt the local rural economy and bad social practices are the main obstacles in bonding the community.
