Brief History
Sarva Hitaishi Shikshan Samiti was formed in 1995 by likeminded and progressive people who were engaged in social activities in the area. It was registered the same year under Madhya Pradesh Societies registration Act, 1973. It has got permanent FCRA and section 12-A of Income Tax Act registration. IIt is working in rural areas of Jhabua district.
SHSS endorses a broad assortment of human rights, self-dependency of oppressed society and women empowerment. The organisation is engaged in developing CBOs, mainly for the underserved women and suppressed communities, livelihood promotion through CBOs, microfinance, credit and savings and awareness of basic rights. The programmes cannot be seen as independent initiatives but instead as a combined effort to achieve the goals of the organisation.
The organisation has gained lots of experience and learning from the permanent and temporary work done by other organisations in this area. It is a voluntary development organisation working to help the vulnerable groups of society.
From the past experience, the organisation made many changes by observing local language, local traditions and local economy, and encouraging the people in their struggle for their rights. And the work of making progress of local people in livelihood, rights, health, education and rich tradition of tribal community is continuing. The organisation is functioning in the field of health, micro credit, right to work and right to livelihoods and conducting campaigns for mobilizing communities for land and water conservation, thrift and credit, MGNREGS, forest rights act and voter education.
The major focus area of work is tribal development, sustainable livelihood, rural development, climate change, panchayati raj, human development, health and rights based, facilitating capacity building activities, natural resource management projects, micro finance programme and livelihood activities. The primary strategy is to provide inputs for building up community-based local organisations to promote long-term sustainability. It is getting technical and financial support through partnership with different NGOs, agencies and the government.
